I completely agree with you. Playing part of this masterpiece is like lighting one firework and throwing it it enjoy the sight or to wait and enjoy a full fireworks display......ish. may be a bad analogy but the point is there. I sat down to play something while I clean up after my daughters, decided to play this and still sitting here enjoying it in it's entirety as it must be. This music is nourishing to the soul.

Utter genius, people will still be listening to this, and Dark Side Of The Moon in 100 years from now...and beyond. I was lucky enough to see them live when they did the first The Wall concert in Earls Court London, then again in Florida in the 80`s when they did a world tour.....utterly mesmerisingly brilliant...puts you on another planet!!!

Pink Floyd , simply amazing , I will never get tired of this bad ass album. Lucky to see them 3 times and would go again! Cincy, Animals in 1977 in the coliseum. Twice in Germany in the 90's. Open air, Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason Aussie Floyd was also a don't miss.

@Louise Rose While I agree with most of your statements, I wouldn't call this their crowning glory, I think Dark side and the Wall are both better albums, with the Wall edging DSOTM by a bit.

28 дней назад
Louise Rose +1
Louise Rose

Those two albums are their undisputed masterpieces. DSOTM was recognized as such at once, on release - WYWH got fairly mixed reviews and was seen as a bit tepid or unengaging by some critics, "too polished and no signs of any rocky rawness" would have been what some of them thought. In retrospect it is clearly the crowning glory of their entire career, and an album that's touched hundreds of millions of people in a deeply personal space.

That's what I was telling my kids there are some musicians and artists that will be around probably till the end of time as far as their name and who they were and their music. 50 20 years from now you won't hear I don't know which is popular today I don't even know there's a new rap mega star be a couple of months and new Justin Bieber's I don't know, with music being produced pretty much relatively the same. Yeah you won't hear her name it's like Chuck Berry Stevie Wonder Elvis The Beatles The Beach boys and of course getting into the Pink Floyd and led Zeppelin rolling Stones though you just and no not because it's just rock and roll because it's good music with thought provoking lyrics some positive some a little negative but usually a mess with people or musicians should I say real musicians that actually play instruments Right lyrics like people 400 years ago Beethoven , Bach, Stravosky and I just saw those names because they remain in history I'm not even into classical music but there you go those and the names previously mentioned well live on forever that's what they mean when they say immortal your name goes on and on legacy. Yes I'm pretty sure 50 100 years or whatever the name Pink Floyd Elvis and Ray Charles will still be remembered and recognize

In school, three separate times we had an anti-drug presentation by this Mother. There was a reason behind the song choice, but she showed her daughter dead in a body bag to "Wish You Were Here" - for decades, her face flashed back to me anytime I heard the song so I never listened to Pink Floyd ANYTHING for the longest time. Finally gave "The Wall" album a go, and I have finally been able to enjoy them. I still struggle to listen to that specific song. My favorite artist of all time though is Kate Bush, who was discovered by David Gilmour. :)

@Ivan Budilov There was a greater sense of certainty and confidence in the future and therefore a greater sense of purpose in former decades. My theory is that the sense of certainty, confidence, and purpose began to markedly diminish at the end of the 1980's and the end of the Cold War. The end of the Cold War was a psychological watershed in the West, in my opinion, and out of it arose a crisis of confidence which is still with us.

Yes so true and sad, but they got David Gilmore to step in and fill in, I'm sure they were still holding out for Sid to come back to reality???? Honesty I don't think they would have been the Pink Floyd that they became without David Gilmore's guitar work, just saying. Yeah. I've always heard that if you have psychotic tendencies or your on the edge of perhaps a breakdown, or you can see what others do not and ask yourself why and is this it? or you can see and you drop some acid or if you mushrooms or any kind of DMT and yeah. Not to say it doesn't do good and and have positive benefits for the next guy 2. Cuz you just might try to reach for the Sun and get burned.

Just because I listened to Talk Talk 'Spirit of Eden' 'Colour of Spring' and 'After the Flood', doesn't mean I wanna listen to Pink Floyd. Different genres in my head, algorithm!!!!!!!
