Ronaldinho Gaúcho. I saw them all since 1990 even Maradona and nothing compares to Ronaldinho Gaúcho. Maybe The oldest players that I didn’t have the chance to watch we’re way better but Ronaldinho rescue football from the boredom. Such a real incredible time…

U never watched Pele in the 90s. Pele was a 70s guy. But truth be said, Dinho simply perfected the art of dribbling. Messy is a runner. Not a dribbler.

Yep, and he is truly underrated by many pundits, which really pisses me off. Idiots saying he might have been as good as R7 or Messi if had not gotten injured. He was better without a doubt in his prime and even after injury when he was fit and his weight condition (under-active thyroid issue) didn't wear him down he still played better than both of them.
Месяц назадNiklas Daver +7
The best dribbler of the ball for me was Roger Magnusson, iconic right winger for Olympique Marseille in the late 60's, early 70's. Known as the "swedish Garrincha" he was famous for dribbling 3, 4, 5 opponents before making great crosses to the croatian goal scorer, Josip Skoblar. In France they say that he would be as famous as Garrincha or Stanley Matthews if he had played for a more prestigious national team.

Richard Bogart +2
@Paulo Ricardo Silveira He got lucky playing in a golden generation, and this was proven when they LITERALLY won WITHOUT him in 1962 (of course the fraud claims this as his win despite only playing one game). And despite "winning" 3 titles (actually 2, you fraud) against plumbers and farmers he doesn't hold a single world record. Most goals scored overall? Nope. Most goals in per world cup? Never. Most WC wins? Nope. The funniest part is that he doesn't even hold these records if you consider just Brazilians. So much for his world cup campaign. Next, anyone can stat-pad against plumbers in unofficial games. But, if you want to consider these laughable "goals" then he still gets beaten by many others: Gerd Müller scored more (1483), Puskas scored more (1571), Josef Bican scored more (1813+). etc. again the fraud his exposed. Now let's talk about his club career and Santos. When he's not stat-padding against LITERAL PLUMBERS AND FARMERS his stats were not impressive at all: 34 goals in 84 games (0.44 GPG) for the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Trash. Cope all you want, facts are facts. He's a fraud and you never watched a single full game of him.

With players like Cruyff, Best, Garrincha and Pele... People forget that the match balls that they dribbled with in those times would've weighed like bricks. Pretty accurate ranking all things considered but I wholeheartedly think that Ronaldinho should've ranked much higher.

@xXhahjeXx I wouldnt call R9 the GOAT since the guy didn’t even reach his peak and I haven’t seen all players that have played throughout the history. However, I bet you would struggle to think of a more talented player than R9. He had it all at elite level at the age of 20, apart from playmaking which started developing in Inter just before he got hurt. Haven’t seen anyone with that combination of technique, strength, speed. You maybe have seen, I don’t know.

Messi dribbles 4 or 5 players every time he plays, and he's been doing it for 16 years. There is no comparison with any other player, neither Maradona nor Pele, nor Ronaldinho. That is the difference. Ronaldinho had four or five years at the highest level, Messi, I repeat, has had this same level for 16 years, not even Maradona played like this for so long, the same for Zidane, Rivaldo, Platini, Romario, etc. Messi is the best every day he plays.

@Gabriel Kemlo The way I see it, at his best he was at least as good as Ronaldo. But we all have different subjective opinions. Likewise, I personally consider Gianfranco Zola a better direct free kick taker than Pirlo, Messi, CR7, R. Baggio, Platini... If I could put together a dream team, I'd have Batistuta, Stoichkov, R9 in attack and Zola as a SS.

Denilson from Brazil 2002 WC is the greatest dribbler of all times. The guy could literally hold the ball for about 30 seconds without any opposition player daring to stop him for fear of humiliation.
5 месяцев назадjamviator +5
You might actually be right about this, he was mostly a last minute substitute but his dribbling was unbelievable. I think Ronaldo R9 is probably the best footballer overall and Ronaldinho is the most naturally talented, but Denilson may actually be the best dribbler.

3 месяца назадAdrian Varela +31
Thank you for your video... all great dribblers. Maradona would say that Magico Gonzales was better than him or that he came up with an original dribble before him. Pele considered Best and Garrincha as the two top strikers and talented players of his time. Rivelino, Jairzhino, and Denilson are great Brazilian dribblers and are at the level of Ronaldo and Ronaldhino. Ronnie would say he learned from Jay Jay Okocha. Arsenio Erico from Paraguay is considered by many one of the greatest but we have little or no film. Perhaps you should create a list of 20 and include these ones. Zidane, Riquelme, and Baggio had great dribbles. It will be hard because someone will be left out and could be unfortunately or unjustly or both but at least those 5/6 other players that all recognize will not be omitted. Is there any footage of Michal Wrobel in the Wisła Kraków team? How about Denilson? Below in the comments, they are named as two of the greatest.

Yes, you are right, also in terms of dribling messi shouldnt be first, he is a great dribbler but there were some better than him, like r9 was much more versatile, messi most of the times just went around (pull back, sideways, pull back again sideways). Ronaldinho also was more versatile.

Really fun to look up Ricardo Bochini (one of Maradona's idols), under 60kg super brave player in the 70 and 80s, super skilled fast and impossible to tackle or steal, and very offensive minded. His number 5 Marangoni jokes he never received a pass back from Bochini, he went straight for the goal full speed with dribbling, give and go, and pinpoint passing

I have watched the sport since the early 1980s, and outside of Messi, the best dribbler I have ever seen was a guy called Denilson, from Brazil. The best natural dribbler I have seen is Ronaldo (R9). One of the best little-mentioned is Kinklazde of Manchester, probably equal to any listed here. Honorable mentions are Ronaldinho, the great Ribbery, Rivelino, and my personal fav of recent past, Eden Hazard.

4 месяца назадRogelio Chávez +2
@Oma Rwa I don't think they are exactly the same. Maradona was flashier and Messi was better at dribbling in tighter places/situations with less momentum; Messi's dribbling in those situations is what separates him from everyone although Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Neymar were great at it too
4 месяца назадtaxamata +3
exactly, Pele played differently than everyone else around him. watched the match (old record). There was a feeling that only one player can play in two teams
4 месяца назадDonutweaver +3
He was 3 decades ahead of his time. With Messi, he is a newer version of Maradona, almost identical at times, not futuristic. The guy who still seems from the future is Ronaldo. No one still has done what he did on the pitch. He was unbelievable

2 месяца назадLeonard Amalaha +14
All the members on this list are great. However, as eras are different, who you dribbled against and when is very important. The greatest music era with most of the hall of famers occurred in the 70s. Again, the greatest boxing era was Ali's and his great quality opposition. That brings me back to Pele's era of 60s/70s which represents the greatest era in football with a bus load of hall of famers and master dribblers. So the quality of opposition Pele dribbled against was quite higher than today's. Today's players have higher salaries. So in my humble opinion, that places Pele as the greatest dribbler as well as the greatest (1)ahead of Messi and Maradona. Maradona actually comes in at number 2 owing to the tough Brazilian and European teams he had to go through.
5 месяцев назадJulian Eder +1
Maradona is definitely still the undisputed number 1 for me. Peles clashes with the likes of moore and beckenbauer were most definitely a sight to behold especially when takin the rather crude equipment and ball aswell as the condition of most pitches during this era into consideration. That bein said sein maradona breezin past the likes of scirea and the most impenetrable wall that has ever existed in the sport (baresi maldini costacurta tasotti) with the first 2 both sittin in their prime during the most contact heavy period ever where a defenders shoelace touching the ball would give him the right to send you down to take a bite out of the lawn was nothing short of breathtaking.
4 месяца назадMaarten Neppelenbroek
Respectfully disagree, the modern game has the best quality players so Messi had the toughest opposition out of all players you mentioned.
4 месяца назадJulian Eder +1
@Maarten Neppelenbroek the game in its present stage has some of the worst squads of the past 60 years especially in terms of defense (as one can see by players like that overrated french kid mbappe makin it to the finals of 2 world cups... 2018 havin the worst squads in a WC ive ever seen) That bein said messi did still face off against some of the late greats in his young years so hes definitely one of the best to ever do it and the undisputed champion of his era

Amen to that Trivia. My Father was playing in the days of Garrincha, When i watched George Best, Pele. Maradone and Cruyff, etc, play in the flesh, I go excited and I declared them as the best most skillful Players ever. He gave me one of those Father smiles that said "aww, bless him, he really does not have a clue" and made me sit down and watch Garrincha play from some old reels he had. He told me, "Watch the Master at work, every Footballer you see pull off a trick to beat the opposition today, he did years before. Think of James Brown and how many Artists have copied him through the years...that is Garrincha." He was right. To say Messi is the best dribble ever, is the most idiotic thing I have read today and probably all year. Given the conditions that footballers play in these days. Given the science behind the game, the boots they play with, the balls, the carpets they play on and given how much Players are wrapped in cotton wool and protected, that is a ridiculous statement to make. Next this idiot will be telling us that Messi, game for game, is the greatest goal scorer ever.
Год назадguitta Dabe +6
@Neo It is the nature of sports that today's greats are greater in absolute terms because they stand on the shoulders of giants. The truly great ones take the innovations of the past and improve on them. I agree with everything you say until the very end. I have never seen anyone but Messi to consistently getting past so many players attacking him at the same time. And I've seen the old reels, and watched Maradonna, Platini, Rummenigge and other greats play entire matches. They were my idols. But nobody holds a candle to the dribbling of Messi.
Год назадNeo +14
@guitta Dabe I hear what you are saying and of course, as far as Messi is concerned, he (in my opinion) along with Ronaldo, are the best of their Generation. As I have already written, I just hate this comparing. it is impossible to take a Player from the 30's through to late 80's and say "X is a better Player than Y", because everything was/is different. And i am sure i do not have to tell you, I mean EVERYTHING. I wont go into again what is different, because as I have written, everything was/is lol. Not only that, i am sure we can all find an argument as to why X,Y.Z, is better than A.B.C and argue that fact until the cows come home. As this Thread has proven, everyone has a different opinion as to why X,Y,Z should be in that top 10 and A,B,C should not. Again I hear what you are saying, but you cannot watch Garrincha, Maradona, Best, etc, the way they used to glide past Players, on the excuses called a football pitch and then watch Messi doing the same on the "carpets" he plays on and say "Oh yes, Messi is the best. " I am 70, I played Pro football, although sadly not good enough to play for an elite Club, but i did ok :0) Like most Players of my era, I started off Semi-Pro on a Saturday and also playing for my local Club on a Sunday, just for fun and to help them out, where I spent more time trying to negotiate the lumps and pumps of the football pitch,i f you could call it that, getting on with a ball that was more like a medicine ball, boots that would have been better served in a Coalmine, etc.. some years later I played my first Cup Game that was worth a toss and that was on the turf of Bayern Munich...Oh...my...sweet Jesus...No wonder Messi can do what he does. My Gran could do what he does on pitches like that and she has been dead going on 40 years. The REAL class, for me anyway, is being able to do it on a pitch resembling a Cowpat. Just watch Garrincha, Best, Cruyff and the like and take note of the pitches they applied their skills on....no way can you compare Messi to them and I am sorry and as I have written 50 times already, I do hear what you are saying and "up to a point" you do have a point, but it is just not viable. You say "Messi glides past Players" and he does, but this is 20021, the era where you dare not breath on an opposition Player for fear of getting sent off, there is no way Messi could play in the 70's against Liverpool, with Tommy Smith, Lawrenson, Hansen in the Team and "glide" past them. Or Chelsea and Harris, Leeds and Hunter, Bremner, Charlton and I can just see Messi playing against Milan and have Maldini watching him "glide" past him :0) I would love to be playing football in 2021and in the late 90's onward, I WOULD be playing for Bayern, Juventus, Chelsea, City, Real. In fact i would go as far as to say, compared to yester-year and everything about football, compared to todays game, it would be a joy...and with the skills I had...a complete doddle :0) So you see, although i DO think Messi is a great Player, the best EVER?....Naaah! lol
Год назадgaming series +1
@Robelto Nicholas I would add to it the fact that those greats hadn’t face an indestructible mountain of man like chiellini , or ramos , or that freak called van dijk , and the list goes on to show that there is an art to defending that was evidently lacking in the past .

What a fantastic list. I fully expected to see Zidane in there and yet I'm not sure who you would exclude. Agree wholeheartedly with the comment that the players from the 60s and 70s had unbelievable skill trying to dribble a ball that weighed like a brick.

Zidane was known for his ball control and the ability to create space with a skill. He wasn't much of a dribbler like the top 10...

The eternal question, which day in history is the best? And everyone argues that it was the one he saw and experienced... In Poland in the 80s, there was a super-dribbler Michal Wrobel in the Wisła Kraków team. When they passed him the ball, he could unbelievably dribble over 7 (sic) opposing players - some even twice in a row - more than shown in the video (I think he had a larger assortment of feints) to finally trip over his own feet and fall like long to the ground. In addition, for 70 minutes of the entire match, he stood waiting for someone to pass the ball to him, irritating the fans only... I think that the size of a dribbler is determined by: firstly, the class of the team he plays for. Each of the 10 dribblers in the film - well, maybe apart from J-J. Okocha - played in great teams whose positioning, tactics, other players, security, and style of playing allowed them individual performances as well as SUCCESSES. Added to this is the on-field intelligence and technique of the player. The style of dribbling is simply adequate to the conditions - the field, the ball, the opponent, the referee, the rules - LIKE OTHER SKILLS AND NOTHING ELSE. Dribbling is only a means to an end, not an end in itself.

But against who he did it? Messi had the best opposition to do it.
4 месяца назадviribus Unitis
@kg01 It doesn't matter against whom - although he was beckoning very good Polish defenders, bronze medalists of the world championships. It is important that it is completely NO SENSE and no effect for the team. Even against your own team.

Just as dribbling only goes, Maradona is supreme. With Ronaldo Nazario a close second. But the whole package? I'd go for Pele, or Cruyff. The vertical jumping, facile dexterity in both feet, assisting teammates, perseverance, and single-mindedness to score, they simply don't come any better than Pele.

I respect your list, and a lot of the players you mentioned would also be in my top 10 list. I'm not gonna say what my full top 10 would be. But I will tell you two players who would make it on my list of best dribblers ever. ANDRES INIESTA & EDEN HAZARD. Obviously not Hazard of 2023, but I am saying Hazard of his Chelsea days. Hazard if you are reading this, sorry no disrespect intended. I hope one day you can get back to your best and start dribbling opponents and setting up goal scoring chances.

Месяц назадJerodimusPrime +2
@mike ox-smells grim Lol, keep on dreaming. Maradona is by far the best dribbler I've ever seen. Messi can't do half of what Maradona could. Maradona played on pitches that looked like they'd suffered an artillery strike, he played against some of the greatest all time defenders in their prime, and he played in some of the most aggressive defensive leagues in the world like the Argentine Primera División, and Seri A in the 80s, where tackles from behind were allowed and defenders got away with shirt pulling and hacking down dribblers like it was going out of fashion, yet despite all that, I've still not seen a player dribble as well as Maradona in his prime—and yes that includes Messi. Messi wouldn't stand a chance in the 80s Seri A, or in 80s football in general.
