I have fasted since I was a teenager this was not a strict regime as it now it just happened. I still fast between 12 and 16 hours daily, I must admit that I have noticed lately a significant change at around the 12 hour mark, I am more alert and certainly feel better for it. I am now 75 and still working, I do not drink, smoke or have any underlying medical issues and I have all my teeth (Just thought I would mention that), I don't want to live longer I just want to be healthy and stay self reliant.

I LOVE fasting......it has changed my relationship w/ food, decreased my desire to overeat, and so many other benefits. I feel so much more in control of my hunger, feel much less bloated, and deink a lot more water. It is so worth it to 24 hour fast. We focus on food way too much....so it is very enlightening experience.

Hopefully this will answer some questions: I started 16/8 fasting at the beginning of 2020 (right before the pandemic hit). I have lost 100lbs since (6'3" 350 lbs down to 250 lbs) and have maintained a much healthier weight since. Here's what I can share from my personal experience. 1 - I chose my eating window to be 11AM to 7PM with the thought that the easiest meal to do without is breakfast. 2 - when eating I still tried to keep my overall calories for the day below 2000. (being 6'3" technically my daily calories should be a little higher as well) 3 - The first two months are tough - my body was trained to want food when I woke up - so the "hunger cravings" sucked - so just drink water. In my case I drank black coffee (some argue adding cream breaks the fast, some say it doesn't - I err on the side of caution) 4 - Your body WILL adapt, and soon it just becomes second nature 5 - calorieless drinks are ok - I stick to water, black coffee, and unsweetened iced tea - I did drink diet coke for the first year as well, but cut that out in 2021 6 - I added working out at the gym in 2022 to help build a little muscle mass back. I didnt lose a lot, but I did notice it - I was never overly strong to begin with, but now in 2023 I have noticed a big difference. I work out about 930pm to 11pm 3 times a week - many tout working out in the fasting late hours but that would mean 9am and work prevents that. Lastly - make it your lifestyle - once you start, commit yourself to always eating like this - it WILL change your life. I no longer have high blood pressure, I have a LOT more energy, and I have more self confidence. Good luck! YOU CAN DO IT!!

Although 'a few' and 'few' are nearly identical, they carry very different emphases. 'A few' is used as a positive expression, simply indicating that the quantity in question is higher than two. The term 'few,' however, is most often used negatively to express a count that is low or lower than expected. Compare the following sentences: "Few cell lines can survive for extended periods at room temperature.” “The flask was left out of the incubator all night, but there were still a few viable cells.”

I've been fasting 18-6 every day for several years. My commitment for 2023 is to work towards 24 hours or OMAD with an occasional 36 hour fast mixed in. I'll give a little wisdom on the subject of fasting. 1. Don't confuse boredom with hunger. If you think you are hungry, do something for a few minutes and it will be gone. 2. If you are married or living with someone it is best that your partner, be on the same page. It's a lot harder if they are cooking and eating all the time. 3. Breakfast is the easiest meal to eliminate and try to exercise in the mornings. 4. This is not hard; it doesn't cost anything. in fact, it saves you money. 5. Good luck

I do take some high quality supplements (multi, salmon oil, ubiquinol, vit d3 & k2, magnesium, ester c) once daily, so I'm sure they're helping too. I want to start doing a 48 hour fast twice monthly to get more benefits from autophagy, but I have a hard time fasting past 18-20 hours. I kinda did OMAD too, trying to lose weight gained from the pandemic xD I almost was at a 90 kilos mark, but with the OMAD diet and walking 5 kms 2 to 3 times a week I regained my original weight (70-75 kg) in 6 months and now Im used to the diet, I can fast almost for 24 hours. But when I eat I need a lot of protein or some heavy foods that not easy digest, like if I eat fish I feel its to light for a meal but after that I can fast for 24 hours

Lost 50lbs intermittent fasting, back to my high school weight at 40 years old. I actually found that I need to be careful to eat enough as I feel so good while fasting, I don’t look forward to eating like I used to; I now eat to fuel, not consume with gluttony. I do occasionally enjoy the cheat day, but honestly, the after effects - head in clouds, overall fatigue, not so much.

Have been steadily doing IF for past 6 months. I used to weigh 182lbs and now about 162 lb. I am surprised how someone can lose 165lb ? Not sure if I do something wrong or people were even heavier than me to begin with and hence I may not get results as much as some of you. I don’t like sodas and processed food much to start with so I wonder if that plays a role in it.

@@rajutvs That's exactly it, I'm not sure how much did rlouis215 weighed, but most likely around 300+ lbs. Intermittent fasting does a lot for people that are heavier. I've been doing IF for about 2/3 weeks now (I'm 172 lbs now) and I probably only lost 2 to 3 pounds, but it makes the difference when you hit a plateau on regular low carb diets.

@@tomahawk014 Thanks. The good thing is that I am happier it is working gradually. I am not a junk eater in general (except for my occasional ice creams) but with IF I am able to resist some of those cravings as well. I also do a fasting of no carbs at all once every 2 weeks as a religious activity which seems to help very well. I was only confused on how people could lose so much with IF but then realize that the food habits have changed drastically for them compared to mine

I have been fasting for 36 hours once a week for over a year now, and I can tell you there are huge benefits to this. Too many to describe, but everything in this video is factual and on point. My biggest advice is to learn how to control your mood and mentality as a whole. This has been my biggest struggle while fasting. It is easy to downward spiral with this and get very hangry. @@harrychown6854 Sorry it took me a while to reply. I don't fast as often as I used to, sadly. I used to do 2 - 24 hour fasts a week. Twice a year I did 5 day fasts. Every one is different, so some people feel hungry faster and longer than others. For me, the first 6-8 hours were the hardest. After that is was easy, I didn't feel hungry. I drink lots of water to make it easier. Fasting is not for everyone. I would check with doctor if you go more than a day or two, especially if you have health problems. There is no shame in starting out with shorter fasts, like 12-16 hours as a "test drive" and see how you feel.
