@tinker Whether a mew or a chirp, she's beautiful and very excited about her new shelf. One more place for her to jump to. First time I saw my solid black, Victoria, chirp/mew was when I first got her and she was just staring out my living room window, I didn't know or see what she was looking at. There was a tree outside the window and there were a couple of birds in it that were concealed by the leaves. I thought she was broken, the weirdest thing I'd ever seen. Apparently when cats really excited they do this.

Oh my I guess I need to be politically correct, and thank you for your intense knowledge. I knew it wasn't a meow but a "chirp" just didn't feel it necessary to be so specific. Boy people are ready to attack and sound smart for anything. LOL Can't wait to hear the feed back on this comment!!!

​@N Jonesme, too! Mine go to the window perch in their room everyday around noon and chatter away at the birds that come to the window to tease/look at their reflection 😂

The only time I've seen my cats do this is when they're watching birds...

Apparently it's a hunting instinct that tries to mimic and lure in cats. Sometimes it also kicks in when cats look at objects elevated above them while they're excited to play.

Did you watch the video of the cat outside 😳 and when a bird would chatter or sing the cat would mimic the bird. It's worth taking the time to look for the video 👍.
