Praying five times a day is one of the most amazing things I have ever done!!! I am 70 now and have been a Christian most of my life. I turned to Islam two years ago. I wash (wudu) five times a day for prayer and we Muslims pray five times a day in a very prescribed and detailed manner. In all we say the same prayers 17 times in one day. Yes indeed, it definitely makes you remember your place before Allah (SWT) and before your fellow man. To any man out there I can tell you this: if you go to a mosque on a Friday afternoon service (Jummah) and watch what happens, you too will become very interested. I was in a mosque in freakin' Vermont and I found myself praying together with five hundred other brothers...all from different parts of the world. Unity, solidarity, camaraderie, pure MANUPNESS. No wimps among the brothers. We are dedicated, disciplined, humble, submitted, and determined to give God (Allah, SWT) His rightful honor and glory. Try it you'll like it. By the way, at 70 I still train. Yeah, heart surgery six years ago, arthritis that almost put me in a wheel chair, four knee surgeries, but I have been fighting my entire life...total amateur but hundreds of fights. Still doing 2000 punch drills daily. Anyway, there is nothing better than to be connected with Allah (SWT) and praying daily five times a day is a definite integral part and aspect of Islam. @1974jrod The official definition of "legalism" is trying to do things to be accepted by God...actually, "having" to DO things to be accepted by God. In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam OBEDIENCE is not something we DO so we can GET from God. We OBEY because HE is God Almighty. HE makes the rules, HE commands, so we MUST obey. very simple. Praying Five times a day is obligatory. Allah (SWT) has clearly taught us it's good for us. He clearly teaches us in the Holy Qur'an that praying five times a day helps us against sinning and teaches us discipline and self-control. I can attest to this. I was a Christian for over fifty years and had some major challenges in my life. After reverting to Islam, I achieve major victories in those areas without even trying. They just stopped. On the human level the major difference is very basic: Christianity is like spiritual welfare!!! People constantly are asking God to help them be better while expecting Him to do it for them. In Islam, it's like getting food stamps but you have to work for them. Imagine what would happen in the world if food stamps had to be earned? Work four hours a day and you get a certain amount of food stamps. Don't work? No food stamps. Most people's idea of God is wrong: They see God as some sort of genie in their magic lamp!!! Wrong concept!!! Allah (SWT) is the BOSS. We DO what He says or else. Capito? Who would ever argue and complain to a Mafia boss? Obey Allah (SWT) and live well. It's on us to OBEY and lean on God's mercy.

For Khabib & Co. to go into this line of work places them in the cross hairs for much criticisms. There are others (NBA stars Abdul Rauf, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Hakeem Olajuwona, etc.) but none of them are ever highlighted because the race factor. Everything in the US is biased. And unfortunately there is a lot of racism that many sports stars experienced in Arab regions covertly. Racism exists in the Arab culture towards non Arab Muslims, they can't argue this because it is documented. Does that mean Black Muslims hate Arabs? Of course not but when Arabs can address it there will be a shining light within Islam.

I agree, as a student in the UK in 1983, I had similar issues when I was housed with an English foster family who had a dog. So I told the lady in charge of our stay that I needed to be relocated as I was allergic to dogs when in fact it was inconvenient for me to have to wash every time the dog licks my shoes, my pants, etc.

The companions of the cave had a dog that slept with them at the entrance to the cave where they were for 300 years. Prophet Muhammad would share his food with stray dogs that passed by eating one bite himself and giving the next to the dog. Islam is not against dogs and teaches us, as Muhammad SW demonstrated many times, to be merciful to them and all of God's creations. Islam only keeps things in their place.

Muslims love dogs but do not keep dogs as pets but rather keep dogs only for the use of a shepard dog if you own a farm or if you live in a rough neighbour hood where there is alot of robberies. Dogs are very protective animals and are useful for the above reasons. Muslims are very keen on personal cleanliness and hygiene of themselves and their home.

I’ve been researching about this one thing what fascinates me tho is Surah kahf in the Quran the men of the cave along side the dog were granted heaven if dogs are bad why would that dog be granted heaven this shows some are loved to in Islam

No dog will be in heaven. How people treat dogs can lead you to jannah. If you feed a hungry dog with sincerity, due to good intention you may enter heaven even though we are not allowed to touch dogs.

The Quran is the only book which is directly from God and it has never been altered.

In Islam, we can keep dogs but only for a purpose like as the shepherd dogs, hunting, guarding or for security reasons but NOT inside the house. It must stay outside the house.

As a Muslim let me enlighten you about Khabib and dogs. He's not scared of dogs, it even mentions that he has some shepard dogs himself. His reasons are Islamic in the sense that in Islam dogs are generally considered unclean animals, not to say you can't have dogs but in Islam you can only have dogs for a purpose like to protect property, to hunt or to Sheppards etc. You can't keep dogs as pets like people do in the West. Muslims believe the saliva of dogs breaks your wudu (ritual purity state when you wash before the daily prayers) so that's why khabib didn't want the dog to touch him. Also there is hadith that a house that has a dog inside, the angels don't enter that house. You do see some ignorant Muslims copying the non Muslims and keeping dogs as pets indoors but that's a clear indicator they aren't knowledgeable in their religion. Islam doesn't hate dogs, we love dogs and believe Allah created them for a reason and purpose, but just not to be kept indoor as pets. I hope this gives non Muslims a little insight into why Muslims generally feel uncomfortable around dogs. If I had a big enough house that needed to be protected, believe me I'd have plenty of dogs in the yard!

Thanks for the video but not all Islamic legal schools consider dog saliva impure making necessary that the person redo his ablutions on order to pray. It's a misconception.
