Blacked out Lectric XP with 2700 miles, great value and great commuter ebike.
Accessories Affiliate Links Below!
Forgot to mention the Velo Orange Leather MudFlap which helps a lot with the splashback and dirt/sand because the fender is actually not long enough. Another thing is the 1859 Northwest throttle assist, its pretty useful as it makes the twist throttle into a thumb throttle for easier riding...it just velcros on and works great.

Really cool! Only thing is I would replace the gps tracker for an airbag at 30 per unit which is forever as opposed to the $60 a year. The only downside is its not waterproof (i dont think) and it is not as hidden. But putting it under your seat will hide it.

Good review! I have to say that I bought the same bottle holder for a similar speaker and the rubber strap broke - replaced it and that broke also, so I now use a big hose lamp that is very secure and also makes the speaker harder to steal - just trim the velcro straps holding it on so they have no tail so they are harder to remove.

Good tip! I'll have to keep that in mind if my strap has problems....

Great video and really cool upgrades! I just ordered same bike. Do you know if a U-Lock will fit around fat bar where battery is held when locking it up? I saw a video of a guy cut the handle with an angle grinder..was hoping I didn't have to use that thin handle to lock up bike. Thanks for any feedback!

Great video! Rode Harleys most of my life, but now this will do. I loved your choice of handlebars. But they no longer carry them. If you had an alternative you could suggest that would be great? Also, how hard was it to get all the electronics to fit on the new bars? Anyway great video! Joe
Год назад1snapdog +1
@S Y Thank you. I will look at similar one. The ones you have were similar to my old Harley's handlebars which I loved!
Год назадS Y +1
Appreciate the kind words! I don't have any first hand experience with other handlebars so I shy away from recommendations that I have not personally tried...I suggest checking out any handlebars with a decent sweep angle; it helps tons with riding in a more natural sitting position. Fitting all the electronics on the new handlebars were fairly simple, the hardest part was getting the old grips off to use on the new handlebars...a bit of soapy water helped.

8 месяцев назадS Y +2
@William Aiken Keeping the battery at 80% charge instead of a full charge, will allow you to have 2x of a lifetime of the battery. Just keep the hub motor, gears and chain, cleaned and lubed which is fairly easy stuff. I like to use White Lighting Epic Ride lube...its a great all in one type of product. It lubes up great, but also cleans and keeps any bolts and screws you need waterproof.

Hey brother man! Any update on the 'ol XP 10 months later? Got the Outbound Lighting Road Edition myself, absolutely worth the price and performs beyond my initial expectations. I come back to this video every now and then and enjoy the time you've put in to your bike. Just passed 250 miles on my XP 2.0, looking forward to many many more! Check out Guardian Angel Elite Series and Micro Series lights if you really want to pull attention to yourself at night. Amazing products, I use a combination of them when riding along the shoulder of a 55MPH road and in town at night (rural-ish area) and they have many mounts and practical uses outside of night riding. Safe riding, my guy!
7 месяцев назадS Y
Thanks for the comment! I am also still enjoying my Outbound Lighting Headlight, it has held up great and is still as bright as the day I got it. The XP is holding up well at 1 1/2 years of ownership 5k miles of mainly throttle use, still using her as a commuter almost daily. The battery has started to degrade though I have found...I think it may be from an unbalanced cell as the range has diminished and full charge voltage sits a bit low, at around 54.0, compared to the 54.7 it used to be. Hopefully Ill be able to save the battery by balancing the cells by doing a few extended charge/discharge cycles. Anyways, I just purchased an extra battery that will fit the XP frame on Aliexpress, it's a 14AH Samsung celled. Still waiting on delivery though. Good suggestions on the tail lights, they look pretty bright and heavy duty. I may add one to my tail light/rear rack, just to be extra safe. I upgraded my tail light to the Juiced Hyperscrambler tail light a few months ago. I replaced the old XP tail light with the upgrade, it just plugs in the same way so it runs off the XP battery. This is getting a bit longer than 'comment', heh...Ride on and ride safe as well! 🤙
7 месяцев назадAPJ +5
So with all of your upgrades would you say that you're around $1300 into your bike total? That would put you at under fifty cents a mile. That's a good result and only getting better as the miles rack up. I'm at 550 miles with almost zero in upgrades. Best regards.
Год назадS Y +3
Yep that sounds about right...I acquired the upgrades slowly when I found I needed something extra for safety, security, and comfort (commuting wise). For recreational riding some of these I would not think would be needed. Still with the XP's starting point price tag, it could not be beat.

Thanks for the comment! The bike performs flawlessly, its still pushing along with no problems so far and I think it will be a great bike for days to come. I have 2800 on my 1.0 and about 1300 on my 2.0. The 1.0 is better by far. I've had nothing but issues with the 2.0, I should've just passed on 2.0. The suspension forks was nor worth the hassle.
7 месяцев назадS Y
Interesting....thats sad to hear. The few things that interested me in the 2.0 were just the skinner tires and the front rack mounting point, but otherwise I am fine with the original XP. I just got to around 5k miles or so on my XP of mainly throttle only use, the battery has started to degrade badly. When the motor starts drawing a high current from the battery, the battery starts draining and dying quickly. Sadly, I can only get a few miles or so until the battery dies now. Anyways, now that the original battery is dying Ive bought a upgraded replacement from aliexpress. Purchased a 14AH Samsung celled battery that will fit into the XP frame without issue, for around 370 including shipping. A 9.4AH LG/Samsung celled from Lectric is around 300 last I checked. Figured I would rather just wait a bit longer for shipping to get a better battery. Still waiting on delivery though....

I use a foldylock on mine. Yes, it did cost me about $90, but it is some *SERIOUS* security It will laugh at hacksaws and standard 24" bolt cutters. Sure the heavy duty 48" bolt cutters will defeat, (but it wouldn't be easy with the force required) it, but this is a professional tool. Not many people carry those around because they are 4 feet long and weigh upwards of 20 to 30 pounds. They are *HEAVY.*

Can you do a video on how you changed the stock handlebar to the Velo Orange Handlebar? Will this Velo Orange Handlebar work on the LECTRIC XP Step-Thru 2.0?
Месяц назадDash SS +1
You had to have used a shim to get the Lectric xp handlebar clamp from 31.8 to 25.4mm as listed for the new handlebar. What shim did you use?
Год назадDash SS
@S Y Looking closer at the Klunker bar the rise makes the handle bar too high for me. The folding stem is already higher than I like. If I could get a shorter folding stem the Klunker might work otherwise I am looking a handbar that has less rise with grips that bend toward me like cruiser bike has. A Moustache shape might work
Год назадS Y
There was no shim needed, the Klunker handlebars have the same type of 'build' the stock ones do. The stock handlebars are 25.4 at the grips, but towards the middle, where the clamp goes, the handlebar actually is a bit bigger in diameter for clamping purposes. This is the same for the Klunker handlebars....the grip parts of the bar are 25.4, but towards the middle where the clamp goes, the handlebar diameter gets bigger.

@S Y Cool. Appreciate the info. 😊
Год назадS Y +1
@Kenny Ray The handlebars were actually pretty straight forward and easy to switch out. Just a few twists of an allen key for the stem then taking everything off of the handlebars which is pretty easy. The only hard part was the grips...I wanted to reuse them so I took them off using soapy water, Ive heard compressed air works really well; but I dont have a pump.
Год назадKenny Ray +1
@S Y Ok. It does look good that way. 😊 I’m going to have to figure out whether I want to get different handlebars or the extension bar that I’ve seen on other channels. The stock battery pack that came with the XP started slowly but surely started dying and getting more damaged as I was using it at around 5k miles. I purchased a replacement 14AH battery from Aliexpress because the one that Lectric sells was only 9.6AH...the 14AH battery from Aliexpress was 370 including shipping and the one that Lectric sells is 300 so I figured why not upgrade and pay a little bit extra...plus the Aliexpress battery used high quality Samsung battery cells, the same ones that Lectric uses. Had to wait about a month for shipping from China but it came thru. I am glad I upgraded to the 14AH battery as it lasts longer for faster speeds and for better range and I am sure my XP likes the additional juice :)

I don't find a need to wear a yellow reflective vest, I usually have my rear red led flashing safety light on at all times...along with my headlight running on low during the day/high at night and that's enough in my opinion. Cars have daylight running lights for safety, why not eBikes?

No offense, but you should have rotated the front tire to back tire a long time ago. And those u shaped lock I hate them, because if the keyhole becomes rusty or malfunctions you can't unlock your bike or ebike... happened to me with my regular 18 speed mountain bike, but I eventually kicked the shit out of the lock and somehow my key was able to turn it enough to unlock again. Also I use three wired locks (two are half inch) and will add a chain lock soon for my ebike, one lock just isn't enough security for me.
