the thing about these generators is that the torque for something generating electricity is much more than the torque for if it isnt. you would need something that pushes harder than you push it.

The water is moving at 9.8 m/s down. That is getting mostly turned into electricity. But let's say 100% is electricity. Taking the water back up would take 100% of that electricity you just generated, assuming 100% efficiency in the pump. Now let's be realistic, it wouldn't work at all. The energy loss through efficiency would stop this from even sustaining it's own movement, let alone powering an outside source. Your not creating energy.

I mostly like how the generator does not care when you plug in extra loads.
