Peterson is the best CB the Steelers have had since Woodson even at age 32. Last year had had 5 picks. Sutton played very well as a slot CB but was routinely exposed when he played on the outside

In all aspects, with the exception of age, Peterson is a step-up in corner play. The big plus for me is the 3 inch arm length advantage and 4.31 forty speed. Albeit his combine was 10 years ago, he hasn't lost that much of a step. His technical savviness allows him to play every position in the backfield so you know Tomlin is all about that. Some great points you mentioned. I think one thing fans gotta do is understand the business of football. I like cam but the lions did overpay him. He’s a solid player. A key player but he’s not a minkah. He’s not a TJ. He’s not currently a “generational” player. The P2 signing is a great move because as you said, now you have a “generational” player maybe out of his prime but he still has the talent and knowledge to coach up a young db. I think this was a smart move by the steelers.

Yes a very good pass rush improves the play of D- backs. Many panicked when we lost Cam Sutton. The Steelers had Rod Woodson for years and he is a HOF'r. However we never won a SB with Rod Woodson on the team. So having the best cornerback is not make or break on a teams success.

I am going to be 10000% honest, I screamed at my phone when I saw we lost Cam Sutton (most definitely deserves every dollar he got paid) but the Patrick Peterson definitely caught me off guard as well, his tape doesn’t lie! CB room is going to be interesting. Makes it more interesting for Draft day to see where Joey Porter JR falls to us ( like you said, hopefully he does) taking notes from Patrick Peterson and a bit of Levi

The year that we lost Mike Hilton and Nelson, Sutton was a #2 corner up until last year when he had his best season. Last season is when he made a few splash plays, so his name stuck out. He also dropped quite a few interceptions he should of had, so he doesn't have the greatest hands. I would have loved to keep him as a #2 cornerback who rotates with another #2 guy, but that's as far as I will take him. We are still missing a true number one lockdown, past deflecting, intercepting cornerback. If he was that guy, the Steelers would have paid him, and NOT allowed him to test the market. Should they have signed Peterson? IDK. They say he's a first ballot future HOF'er, so what's not attractive about that? But since he's about 12 years into his career in the league, this upcoming season for him could go either way, so I am guessing that he's a bridge cornerback for the guy that the Steelers draft? A role model/teacher, so to speak. Cam will be missed, but he is 100% replaceable. If ALL 4 offensive tackles are gone by #17, I said our 1sr round pick should be an elite corner if one is still left on the board, or the Steelers should consider moving up to get one or the other. Fairwell Cam Sutton, I wish you well, and a great rest of your career with the Detroit Lions who has a pretty good defense (Aidan Hutchinson and others), so give it your ALL! 🙏🏽✌🏽

All good corners the steelers draft and develop leave but cam was good but not fast so even at this age Peterson is faster. Cam is a good corner but steelers were outbid. Draft a good corner with Peterson and your secondary is much improved. I'd sign the safety Kazee can't remember his name because he's more of a playmaker which gives you 2 playmaking safeties.

Pat Peterson is gonna be such a good mentor for whoever we draft at CB in the draft.

Patrick Peterson is an all-time great, his ceiling is All Pro. Cam Sutton is a really solid number two and maybe a decent number one as a ceiling. I'll take the old All Pro

Check out the interview Peterson with BMaC. Peterson wants to be the guy, like Sutton, to move around into the slot and cover outside. Player ran 4.32 but probably running 4.4 now. That is still blazing. And his football IQ is off the charts as a savvy veteran. Great Signing! A great leader and excellent locker room veteran. Minka and Peterson covering the back end. Scary!

I would def say steelers go rd3 for CB if they sign another FA, but if they don't I can see them going 1st rd. The CB room def needs a mix up.
