The title of this video is History of the Universe, yet the video as a whole seems to give some implication or at least a strawman claim that this is somehow equivalent to us human beings learning about ourselves. I find this misconception very similar to what Carl Sagan warned about in regard to the idea that Emmanuel Kant raised claiming that the very existence of human beings giving recognition to the " beauty " of the universe magically makes us important and the universe worth existing for... reasons. Self-indulgent folly.

This video is a great reminder of how much we have learned about the universe over the past century. It's incredible to think that at one point, we didn't even know that the Andromeda nebula was a separate galaxy. Hubble's discovery of Cepheid variable stars in Andromeda was a huge breakthrough in measuring distances in the universe and opened our eyes to the vastness of space. And as telescopes got bigger and better, we continued to see farther and farther out into the cosmos. But even with all our observations, we are still limited by the edge of the observable universe. It's fascinating to think about what lies beyond that boundary and how the universe came to be from a single point in the Big Bang. The more we learn about our universe, the more questions we have, and that's what makes astronomy such an exciting field to explore.

Wouldn't these theories of multiverses also include the possibility that in one of those universes we not only find a way to not only peer into other universes but also be able to cross over? And wouldn't that also suggest that perhaps this is already a reality somewhere out there? And if that's the case then we should, and inevitably will, some into contact with one or more other versions of us at some point?
11 месяцев назад@mingus8257 +2
Well if the laws of physics are the same everywhere and traveling (beyond) the speed of light or creating/using traversable wormholes isn’t feasible within physics then there’s no chance of ever coming in contact, even with an infinite universe. Also maybe we just aren’t in the Universe where that happened. Obviously correct me if I’m wrong I have no clue what I’m talking about

@@kingcrimson3882 exactly, strange how when it comes down to it we still have so many unanswered questions. Personally I think science is starting from the wrong metaphysical assumption, that being physicalism and realism and we are quite unable to study the whole as it is without reducing it to smaller parts. The scientific method is quite limited as to what it can say and I don't think they'll have the answers philosophers have been on about from millennia. It's all still one giant mystery. Science can only study the quantitative, that which is measurable. The qualitative is outside the bounds of the scientific method, mind. Going back centuries, everything we know about quantity is through the qualitative aspect of nature but they say mind is just an epiphenomenon of matter. It's completely backwards, matter, space, and time are properties of consciousness for everything we can experience/perceive is only a representation, construction in the substratum of consciousness, whether or not there is an "out there" we can only have indirect access to it through sense perception. It's all experience, that's the only certainty.
11 месяцев назад@kingcrimson3882
@@SIN-ICK-CULL The problem with the immeasurable is that we can only make assertions about it. There is plenty of discourse amongst philosophers on the "collective unconsciousness" etc... Science wants what is irrefutable and practical for the modern world. It's strange however to imagine that the we are only ever so slightly above our primate ancestors in brain capacity. I imagine they thought of themselves as omniscient and yet just by scratching the surface we've already encountered such counter-intuitive notions which seemingly underpin reality as the most fundamental things. Is quantum mechanics and a TOE the bottom of the well? Or is it just like what Newtonian mechanics was to special and general relativity, a "falsehood" formed from a misapprehension of a greater truth? It may be impossible for us to ever know but if the human race is to dig that deep it much first survive the crises on our way.

Thank you so much for this. I've learnt a lot from your channel and I will continue to watch. I'm deeply doubting the existence of the multi verse. While mathematically they maybe be possible. These ideas appear beyond empirical observation. An interesting idea and certainly fun to see these ideas come to life in popular science fiction. Interesting thought experiments but I will sleep comfortably knowing that really with such bold claims also requires pretty bold evidence to withstand scrutiny. Thanks again.

I'm impressed that you went in to so many of the competing hypotheses. Usually people assume inflation must be the case and ignore all the alternatives. Good job.

I would have liked to seen discussion of the delayed-choice variation of the double-slit experiment. That conclusively proves that quantum effects can disregard linear time, from the observer's perspective.

That was awesome. I am not an English-speaking native, but I understood the layers perfectly. Of course, I knew about the components as much as a non-physicist could. It was lovely to see how it all is woven together. Beautiful.

Simply amazing quality documentary. This should be mandatory in advance placement physics in high school. Since this is where our future scientists and Nobel Prize physicists will come from. I am a physician because I could never master the Advanced mathematical knowledge required for Physics. I have spent a lot of time thinking on a universal law of everything could be put together. Nevertheless these are and shall remain “pie in the sky” because I have a very good understanding of physics principles in a practical manner. Unfortunately, I am “mentally handicapped” in anything beyond basic algebra and trigonometry. Calculus makes no sense to me. I only passed these classes by memorizing formulas without understanding them and plugging in values. I memorized calculus problems like one memorizes a text. Based on the type of problem I knew what formula to use WITHOUT EVER UNDERSTANDING WHY THAT SPECIFIC FORMULA WAS USED! I got A’s and B’s . Now at age 70, thinking about goals I wanted to achieve in life, understanding advanced math is the only one I have not achieved. I am internationally known in my medical specialty, have lectured all over the world. Medicine is more logical. One has to have a good understanding of how the different systems work, and know what is the conventional approach to address a certain situation. My niche, having a background in electronics, having started as an electrician and learned electronics on my own, is finding very simple ways to achieve better results with almost 100% certainty it will work, posing less risk to the patient. Simple electronic circuits can be used to facilitate patient care. Cardiology is nothing but “advanced plumbing and vert basic electronic circuits. My colleagues think I am “too bold” in my approach when using basic proven physics principles in delivering life saving therapies. I never seeked neither fame nor fortune. I have seen colleagues who thought My ideas were crazy, patent my methods, and take credit for my ideas. My wife and friends think I am an idiot not have gotten a patent. I am now more interested in modernizing archaic approaches in fluid dynamics, controlling osmolarity by using simple modification of methods that have been in used in other areas. We were able to replicate mammalian hibernation in primates, just before the military took over my groups research. Likely being used in humans by now. I am just happy to have been a link in the chain that led to this discovery. Again, CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS THOROUGH PRESENTATION AND PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING. Now, as Implan go slow down, I am seriously thinking about learning Calculus!

10 месяцев назад@drewg2403 +1
The thing i hate about the level 3 mulriverse is that if every probabilistic outcome does happen, no matter how unlikely, a universe will inevitably exist where you can repeat the same experiment at infinitum and get the least probable outcome every time. In that universe all theories would be disproven because the expected experimental results would never match theory.

Yes indeed, couldn’t agree with you more. This is the kind of thing, that the inventors of radio and television dreamed of way back when, to educate the people of the world. Have you noticed, that the comments left for his videos, are all complementary, positive, supportive and intelligently written..? That’s something one rarely sees in the internet :)
Год назад@gordthor5351 +1
@@PRH123 I was actually thinking the exact same thing the moment right before I read your comment. It stands to reason though, regarding a topic intrinsically based on accepting reality as it is. Most topics of interest to people are based on emotional biases and that will always lead to a plethora of pseudo realities where people obviously won't agree on. It's a sad state of humanity and the modern day internet is greatly exacerbating the problem. I think the world needs much more science and critical thinking skills taught in schools from an early age. Too much self serving biases mixed with ever increasing technology will be the end of us if we don't make some changes. The saving grace for our ignorant and delusional ancestors was that they didn't have a lot of technology, which mitigated the harm they could do. We now have an internet that can propagate ignorance, delusions and tribalism far and wide, very quickly.

Just something important that I feel was omitted: actually, the level 4 multiverse was first thought of by... PLATO almost 3 millennia ago! His theory of forms posited that our reality was actually lower in rank to the world of perfect forms (including the ideal geometric shapes, for example).
10 месяцев назад@jermelpurse3018
I think when we talk about the observer, we have to be far more obtuse. Yes, I know we want to view ourselves as the observer but I think when we observe the particle that’s just when we finally see it as it is at that moment. I think actually what we probably run into is fields of particles electrons protons, etc. all types of fields interacting with one another at the fields are composed of tiny, airfields the corks with their spins a field, going in this direction of field, primarily going in that direction those feels interact To feel fit and create a single field and electron, let’s say that electron interacts with another field and creates the observable electron the observable electron now has mass at RDU because it’s had several interactions now to stabilize the field these three observers. These three interactions have now stabilized the mass into something that is observable that observable mask, and then do all sorts of things even the stabilize and become unobservable again. I think it’s going to be very interesting when we finally discover just how quantum mechanics works. After all, we’ve already discovered, it’s not particles that make up the world the universe. It’s really just a bunch of fields. Those fields give rise to particles, we know eventually they give rise to large objects because look at you and I but it’s mostly a field. A great majority of that field is empty space. And I think it’s just the interactions of those fields that ultimately dictate the particle placement position and what will be when it is where it is, how it is.

Instead of Metaverse, I just think it’s best to remember that we are so small that we do not know what we are looking at. Like an ant, trying to figure out where it is and only ever knows it’s in a field, with 29 trees, and a concrete road in the distance, and can never see farther than that and has no idea that it is in Florida, on a continent named North America on a planet called earth. It will never see past the field and the trees around it. It may try to understand those trees and the origin of the concrete road, but it’ll be completely wrong! Since we are a TINY bit bigger than an ant in this universe and more intelligent, we can see the planet and a few things out in the galaxy but we have no idea that we may be just a speck on an atom in a body of a larger being. We could be floating around on a blood cell in the artery in something’s arm. Lol and here we are thinking we are so smart looking “out” into the universe and we are just seeing the darkness inside something’s artery lol and the stars and other galaxies from the Big Bang could’ve just been when the beings blood first started pumping lol. They’re is no way to know. Just as the molecules, bacteria, parasites in our human bodies will never know l, intelligent as they may be, that they exist inside our body and what we are doing, walking around and doing in the world that they cannot comprehend.

Watching videos on mutliverse theories always has the effect of grounding me. It makes me recognize the power I have to make choices, and to a great extend pilot myself into the universe I want to be in. In a way, consciousness makes us interdimensional beings that can phase through limited realities within the scope of time and space we are able to access. Life is like training wheels for higher dimensions. And so... If I am alive tomorrow: I will have pancakes.
Год назад@elongatedmusk3132 +5

the classical, generic lie that the enemy pulls is all his wild theories. multiverse universe, aliens, other dimensions, anything to distract you from God. ‘If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For with the mouth one confesses and is saved, and with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness.’ ROMANS 10

I think I will scare myself thinking of how insignificant I am to the world--I mean, whoever is reading this comment will never know me other than what I am writing. Image if people like us could start our own meme? Ie., the world is slowing down! We can say that the speed of light as we know is slowing down. As such, energy is slowly starting to slow down, with mater following until everything comes to a stop! There is nothing to exist without the "speed of something--light". Einstein's theory is slowly falling apart. Can this be true if a scientist can write a paper on it?
