Judging by his shadow in the beginning of this video to the point of catching the fish, Id say it took him at least 3 to 4 hours which is a very long time to be waiting in a single spot. Id give it a few minutes before trying something different.

One thing about carps is that they might be dirty eaters but the lake bed were carps exists are much cleaner than the lake beds without carp. They're nature's freshwater vacuum cleaners is what they are. My point is that I highly doubt that the freshwater chum would last for several hours, in fact I think it'll last less than 1 hour depending on certain factors like fish fry or guppies, crawdads and water current as well as temperature. Warmer water tends to dissolve things faster as you already know. I'm sure it was a great catch. I've caught several of these myself, but I'm more of a catch and release type of guy (most of the time). Fishing is my passion. It's my escape from everyday life, it's peaceful and relaxing, surprisingly exciting like a gift from mother nature when you catch that monster. Nothing like breaking your own record. You know that fish that makes you wonder if anybody else has caught one that size? It happens to me every year but there's always one bigger. Always. I'll give you an example, 2 years ago I caught a krappie that weighed 3lbs 9oz. The record was over 4lbs but until this day, it's still the biggest I've seen with my own 2 eyes and I'm never alone when I fish. I think I'm going to start uploading my fishing trips. We always ate carp growing up but they came from ponds. We mostly ate river catfish tho.

Here in the UK we treat the carp with great care, placing them on unhooking mats and applying ointment on wounds before carefully placing them back into the water. It’s unsettling to see this video and find out they are considered crap fish in other parts of the world 😂

Carps are messy eaters but lake beds that have carp are much cleaner than those without. Carps have mouths like a vacuum cleaner sucking up all the dead foliage and other rotting biohazards that can be harmful to an ecosystem. Carp has also been a reliable staple food around the world for its ability to adapt to any and every environment. These are just a few benefits from having carp in your lakes. Thankful you should be but not for the wrong reasons and misconceptions.
