Any time I make a pie I use one can of evaporated milk and use regular milk to make up for the rest of the measure of milk . Evaporated milk makes a pie rich and creamy and delicious .Nothing is better than an old fashioned homemade pie any flavor , chocolate, vanilla, coconut, lemon , pineapple, any of them are yummy! Blessings!💕

Also my great grannie use to make one without the coconut and make two with coconut. Apparently one of my uncles didn’t like or was allergic to coconut (can’t remember what the issue really was). Anyways I’ve been searching for a good recipe and candy wait to make this one! Do you have a chocolate pie recipe? My great grannie use to make that too! When I was a kid my grandparents had a well with a bucket you had to drop and draw you water up. Everybody drank out of the same dipper!. My cousins and I played hide and seek way after dark. Caught lighting bugs and June bugs. We didn't sit in the house watching TV with a/c because there wasn't any and it was cooler outside. We spent our days playing games like kick the can and Red Rover Red Rover. Wonderful childhood memories

When I make egg custard, pumpkin… I put the pie pan/crust on a cookie sheet and set it on the shelf in the oven pulled out a little fill it or almost, sprinkle a little nutmeg, push the rack in Leftover that doesn’t fit can be set in cups in a pan. Add some water to the pan so it goes about 1/2 way up cups. Bake until done

I get a coconut cake occasionally at the grocery store but they don’t put enough coconut in the icing. I remember the sugar cube for polio. I was in the first grade. And I remember also the TB shot on the inside of the forearm and back then the schools would take you to the dentist fica student in elementary school needed it. The county paid for the dentist. Wish I had let them take me when I was in the Fifth grade to get my front teeth filled. I didn’t get the fillings until I was in the 10th grade but by then my mom had to pay for it. I think it was only available to elementary kids. I was 16 then and that filling lasted better than any filling that I ever had.

Looks absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to make it. One suggestion - add coconut to the title of the video as not everyone has had one before. She’s been gone a long time but all of us great grandkids miss her so much! She was a true southern god loving lady and you remind me of her!

Have you ever used a can of coconut milk for part of the milk? It adds an extra layer of that coconut flavor.

I will try this! Two questions first; is that pie shell pre-baked or do you pour the custard into a raw shell? Is the oven temperature 350°?

Looks delicious. Is this a store bought frozen pie shell? Also measurements are just estimates. Liquid measuring cups are not the same for measuring dry ingredients. It really doesn't matter much with cooking, but baking is more of an exact science. I would definately make this!

My Gram called it Butterscotch pie and she made it at least once a month cuz it was Gramps favorite. Just use some brown sugar no coconut for that flavor...ALWAYS with meringue piled on top. We loved it when we got to go to her house and it was in the frig. MMMMM
