We Got KICKED OUT of our RV Park | Fulltime RV Living | The Downside to Fulltime RV Life

Think there's NO DRAMA in RV life? Think again! Our video highlights what happens when you choose the wrong campground to spend a week relaxing and unwinding! While we do give some consideration to user reviews, we don't always mark a campground off our list just because of a handful of poor reviews! Unfortunately, we paid the price this time and will now consider ALL reviews that pertain to power shortages and general upkeep! Let our mistake save you the drama of dealing with a park manager that thinks your "big rig is taking all the power out of their park". One highlight that came from this huge inconvenience, is that our next campground, just outside of Glacier National Park, was able to accommodate us four days early! Thanks to getting kicked out, we got to see Glacier three times instead of just once, which we originally had planned! Oh, and our new campground had plenty of electricity for ALL of the rigs in their campground and was well kept!

It's awesome that people like you are calling out places like that. The prices they charge are ridiculous to not have the exact amenities they advertise.

Месяц назад

@Fyretuck yes, when the electric isn't reliable, you definitely shouldn't be charging a premium! Not to mention the added amenities that couldn't even be used for the majority of the day, if at all!

If a number of amenities are not available, that should be made known, and a reduction in rates should follow.

We had restrictions put on us by the county. Yes we could have had it open, but we would have had to post an employee at the gate and we would have been allowed to have 10 people in the pool ( figured by the county on surface area) We could not designate one person to sit at the pool all day and tell people that your time is up , and what of the familys that wanted to swim together and had 12 people?. or one group of 7 and another group of 6 ....? The headache was real.. We were able to paint the pool and other work that needed to be done. And really cost to maintain a pool daily is not terrible.

We left an rv park once. The red flag should of been the 9.5 speed limit signs. They had rules for rules. The biggest thing I learned was don't stay at rv parks that mainly have permanent residence. It seemed we were always being watched by the full-time residence. The park was a real click. Why they even rented space to travelers just passing through, I don't know. We lost money because they don't give refunds for early departure. Didn't care left early anyways to get out of there. Never pay a month in advance if you've never been to the park beforehand to check it out.

I think it goes a long way if they try to make it right or if there’s a decent park underneath. We lost power for 3 days at our current campground but it was city side and not campground side. The park did everything they could to make up for it and comped 4 nights. We already had a generator too. Yea i was pissy but they tried and it wasn’t their fault. Complete opposite of what happened to y’all.

Yes, just offering empathy would have been a nice gesture. All we wanted was to hook up to the site beside us since our neighbor left, but then she "couldn't sell that spot" as she said! Yes, we were upset about not having adequate power for two days and having no contact with the staff since they were never there, but it could have been resolved in that instant if she would have said sure hook up to the site beside you and I'm sorry for your troubles! Sounds like your management was better trained then what we were dealing with!

I hope you let KOA know that the badly managed park still was pulling people in with KOA quality promises of amenities. Perhaps they would pursue it with the park. Anyway, sorry for your troubles. We are not full time but we see plenty of actual KOA's that vary on upkeep. Too bad the prices don't reflect the lack of amenities even from what is available in the summer versus the off season times. We are members of Thousand Trails and see the same type of issues on upkeep and amenities. Some are great and others need someone to work there that cares about the park. As an RV'er, we try to make every place we stay look as good or better when we leave. We love the USA and want to keep camping across it!

We definitely notified KOA of the false advertisement from the park. Its unfortunate the standards aren't there across the board. We've only stayed at a few KOA's, and there was one that stood out as being quite a bit older and less maintained. Our issue with this park was using their KOA pictures in advertisements to make you think you'd get a KOA experience, when in all honesty, the park should be permanently closed, until their electrical problems are addressed at the very least.

Absolutely, read the reviews. I have had only one RV park that I was totally upset with. Outside of El Paso, TX back in 2014. I had a class-c at the time and only 30amp. OK, I set up, plugged in, and all was fine until the next day. Yes, ran the A/C all day and night. The shore cord plug started to meld. I unplugged and used my generator. The site manager allowed ME to pick a site best suited for us. Most of the sites were unlevel, but that is manageable. The office had CAMCO RV parts and I was able to get a replacement 30amp plug for my RV. No charge, but I had to do the replacement. That was our only real bad experience. I have been to numerous RV parks with hot tubs, but when we got there, many were under maintenance or totally shut down. No big deal. Live with an RV. Unless you buy into RV resort time shares and that costs money.

We stayed in a full-time RV “resort” in Idaho. It was run BY THE RESIDENT MANAGER’S, for free rent. They were psychos. We felt like we were being watched all the time, just for being there. The OWNERS, who lived out of state, didn’t care to hear how the “ resort” was ACTUALLY being run. The residents were coming into our space all the time, without notice, to do “ maintenance” on the sprinklers and lawn. There was ZERO tenancy privacy, therefore NO relaxation. The residents would just STARE, without without expression, especially the creepy, old men. We have two young daughters, and they were majorly creeped out by the guys that ran that place. They had a beautiful clubhouse , which the RESIDENT MANAGERS had such a possessive attitude about ,that no other campers felt comfortable using it. It should have been a fun place, but the WRONG PEOPLE took it over, and are running it into the ground. Its not too far away from Boise, so beware. We gave them a BAD review, and they’ve done every dirty trick in the book to mitigate it, and keep their reputation stellar. Good Luck out there, fellow RVer’s.

It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience. The bad reviews should have sent red flags to you. Then when you seen the pool condition that should have changed your mind about staying. There are a lot of former KOA's that misrepresent themselves as still being koa. Luckily you got a refund and were able to find another park.

Yes, we will pay closer attention to reviews in the future. Especially when they are regarding electric and general upkeep. Coming from the hospitality industry, I generally side with the establishment instead of user reviews, because everyone has different interpretations of service. But electric reviews are pretty factual when coming from the user, so we will take those seriously from now on. We only got a refund for the days we didn't stay. She didn't refund the days with limited to no power.

It is a bad RV Park. We've wondered how they got a KOA contract. Next time stay on the south end of town at Southside RV Park. Great Park, really good owners, and close to Sparky's Garage Restaraunt for dinner. Great food & service. We had the same electrical pedestal problems at the The Lazy K Rv Park in Lovelock Nevada. Only our TT was a 30-amp unit. It was 106 outside. Running the ac & watching tv, we blew the entire camper row when we turned on the microwave. Evidently they had doubled the amount of sites without upgrading their electrical system. 1-night, adios.

To be honest dude, I was 100% with you until you toured the campground. That kinda made you look nitpicky. It wasn't THAT far off from the ad, but your situation still happened, which kind of diminished your justification for the level of anger that would compel you to publicly cancel this place. You have a solid case based on the electical situation alone. The dis on the campground was a little petty. Definitely not trying to be nitpicky, and some of the stuff wasn't too bad. The fact that they only staffed the place from 8am-10am and 4pm-6pm took away from what little they did offer, because they either weren't there or you had to do the activities during certain hours. We didn't want to leave since our girls had just had a long travel day, came up with a solution for them so we could stay (since they weren't there to address our electric concerns), but were told to leave since we were stealing all the power with our big rig. They knew our size when we booked months in advance, plus (as I'm sure you know, and they should too), we can run on 15, 30 or 50amp!
