My truck camper is my home away from home while competing on tour. In this video I give you a quick snap shot tour of the inside of my Lance 825 truck camper. Also, I go through the process of loading my Lance 825 truck camper into the bed of my pick up truck and how easy it is with the Torklift family of products to set up to safely tow my tournament boat all over the country right behind it.

It is amazing how much work goes into this game we love. Nice to have a support crew at home but being on the road and doing most everything yourself is a ton of work and dedication. Great job!

Richard Hamilton There is a lot that goes into it when you step back look at the big picture. Definitely a labor of love so to speak. Thank you for the kind words!

James, awesome video! I should have watched this months ago, sorry. Very cool setup for you and other Pro Anglers and maybe, also good for my plans. Really appreciate you breaking down each of the steps and what's required to connect the camper to the truck so we can travel safely! Really helpful James, thanks so much for sharing!

Awesome setup! Did you have to do any suspension mods for the 825 (airbags)? I’m looking at the same setup and trying to understand what to plan for. Also, how long is your super hitch extension? 36” ? Thank you!
2 года назадJames Niggemeyer Fishing +2
Scott Fast I fortified with a Timbren suspension helper kit and it works great. The truck already came with beefier off road Bilstiein shocks so when coupling that with the Timbrens its rides nice! Also I’ve went the airbag route before and continually had problems with them leaking.

Scott Fast Oh the super hitch extension I believe is 24 inches. I’d have to double check though to be sure.

Thanks James! I fantasize about retiring and getting a bass boat and towing it with a truck with a camper. I've always wondered though how one gets everything loaded up. Now I know! God Bless You! Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."

I thought the 825 was a queen bed. But maybe not on your model. I've been looking at the 825. I upgraded the suspension on my Tacoma just in case
2 года назадJames Niggemeyer Fishing
Not Woke Enough yes it is a queen but mine was pre-owned (1year) and the guy upgraded some things and that was one of them.
2 года назадSoutheast Idaho Success Team
It comes with a queen but there is ample room to upgrade wider on each side since there are no low cabinets.

Ok, I am looking at doing the same rig. I have a 21Ft Ranger boat and I want to buy a Super Duty or similar that will carry the camper and handle the tongue weight! Did you choose this truck because it handles all the weight (both combined) or how did you decided? I worry about pulling hills and performance and got going over weight.
2 года назадJames Niggemeyer Fishing
rage5606 I chose this truck because I have owned a Ford F-350 Dually with a Lance 1181 and Torklift 48” extension and ran that rig 8+ weeks a year for years and wanted to downsize and minimize things for a simplified work environment and I am much happier. Asgard as trucks I have several friends who like the RAM trucks so I have it a try. I think I prefer the Ford but the RAM is nice too. It handles the boat and truck fine even on steep grades

@James Niggemeyer Fishing I want it to be a smaller package as well. Just looking for something with an air-conditioning but that means a bigger camper if I want a generator on board. Otherwise I guess I gotta buy one to carry along and thats extra weight too. Just been reading that too many people dont check the weights and find that the truck they pick is fine for the camper, but once you add the boat they are either over weight or the performance of the truck is so reduced that they regret the truck. Hoping to find that perfect combo of truck/camper/weight so that my wife and I can enjoy retirement and see the country with ease. I guess half the fun in searching! Thanks for the response!

Unless you have 19.5s on that truck I bet you are overloaded. Trust me, you don't want to find that out the hard way.
2 года назадJames Niggemeyer Fishing
Maybe but what’s a 19.5s?
2 года назадNiskibum +1
@James Niggemeyer Fishing 19.5s are commercial size truck tires/rims. They have much higher load capacities, but are the same overall diameter as your regular wheels. They cost a little more, but they typically last a lot longer. I put them on my truck after I had a rim come apart at about 65mph. Not fun. For your safety, and the safety of other drivers you should verify what kind of load you have on your rear axle, and make sure the axle, tires, and rims are up to it. Factory tires and rims usually aren't, and driving to a scale while loaded is the only way to know for sure. I wish RV sales people would mention this to customers, but you know how sales people are.
2 года назадJames Niggemeyer Fishing
Oh ok thank you for the valuable information
2 года назадD Fort +1
@Niskibum Airbags, sway bar, 10ply tires and these single axle trucks will handle this all day long, never heard of wheels blowing out but thx for the info.
2 года назадNiski Bum
@D Fort the truck is only as strong as the weakest link. Do you know the load capacity of your rims? Driving down the highway at 60 is not the time to find out. Airbags, sway bar, 10 ply tires will do absolutely nothing to increase the capacity of your rims, or your axles. One of my "heavy duty" rims split right down the middle at speed, and I had air bags, sway bar, and 12 ply tires. That's when I switched to 19.5s. I want to prevent other people from having that bad of a day too.
